The news has been full of reports on international efforts to control the spread of swine flu, to develop vaccines, and on the work of local health agencies. It’s important to take a step back and be alert to the pressures and fears that can arise from this continual coverage. Christian Science, which exposes the mental nature of disease, reveals that fear is a basic element of all sickness. In her major work on Christian healing, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy made clear that it is possible to prevent disease by watching and guarding the thoughts we think (see Science and Health, p. 392). Join this chat to gain spiritual insights into how prayer can not only protect you from, and heal you of, swine flu or any other illness, but also help to stop the spread of the disease itself. (And to read more about how prayer can protect you from disease, check out the searchable edition of Science and Health on this site.)
