Though the term “animal magnetism” became widely known in the 19th century, writer Eric Georgatos is quick to point out that it isn’t “semimysterious jargon.” In his article “Exposing Animal Magnetism in the 21st Century” (p. 27), he gives us a history of the term, and how it has come to find a place in the practice of Christian Science—specifically meaning error—anything that pulls us away from the truth of our spotless, spiritual identity.
