The start of the hurricane season has been rather mild, but the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is reminding people in hurricane-prone areas that August through October is when most storms form. During this chat Robin Hoagland offers insights into how to pray about hurricanes and their impact, how to prepare spiritually for a hurricane and resist the mental “frenzy” that sometimes accompanies such preparations. She says responding from a spiritual standpoint, even after the fact, can do much to aid in rebuilding affected communities.

Having helped a small church rebuild after Katrina, Robin’s comments offer “on the ground” guidance for prayer. Her replies to questions about continuing distress over what happened with Katrina and anger over mistakes made by officials and others are geared to helping people affected by loss of home, and other results. In addition, she answers questions from people asking how to pray about drought in California and other natural disasters. Also, during the chat a couple of site visitors offered tips for people interested in helping the Gulf Coast area in its continuing efforts to rebuild post Katrina.
