What in the world are Christian Science Reading Rooms?

Live audio chat with Ethel Baker, C. S.
June 10, 2008

Listen to the chat: Real Audio | Windows Media | QuickTime

One definition given in the chat is “a space for grace,” and as Ethel answers questions from Reading Rooms around the world, she helps to define—without limiting—some of the ways that grace can touch both Reading Room attendants and their visitors. She responds to attendants’ questions about how to provide better answers for visitors who come for help with difficult problems.

Ethel also deals with nitty gritty questions about the types of products available for sale, issues of profitability, what kinds of displays will be effective. In addition, she speaks about the role of Reading Rooms in a technological age. Most of all, she emphasizes that Reading Rooms are places for spiritual thought, study, and prayer for everyone, not only for Christian Scientists.
