In his opening remarks, David explains that there are really two aspects to cover in talking about unemployment. First, there’s the individual need for employment, but there is also the question of how we can all help more broadly with the worldwide problems affecting the global economy through what we understand of God and His creation. He also makes the point that being employed isn’t just about having a job, important as that is. It’s also about work that “fits us”—is satisfying and in harmony with our needs and interests. He makes the point, “The overriding need is for our thinking to change,” and as he responds to questions from site visitors, he describes some of the spiritual concepts that will help us do that.

Questions dealing with feelings of discouragement and fear of competition in the job search, uncertainty about employment goals, frustration over interviews that don’t lead to jobs come from site visitors around the US. People with businesses that are failing because of the business downturn and those who have been laid off and are running out of resources are among those who participate. Learning how to trust God, asking how to get back into the job market after having been out of it for many years, and how to get adequate compensation are all on the agenda.
