Bob and his wife Sandy have two grown sons and have been married for thirty-four years. Their marriage has been a partnership on many levels. As trained educators, they spent the first three decades of their marriage teaching and learning together. They spent their first year of marriage house-parenting emotionally disturbed teenage boys. Then, they co-taught at an international school in Japan and in the West Indies. They’ve also partnered in helping to run a summer camp and boarding schools in New England and the Midwest. In addition to his full-time healing work, Bob is the Christian Science Committee on Publication for Florida.

A healthy marriage partnership has equilibrium to it. What is the spiritual basis of that poise and balance and what role does Christly humility play in marriage maintenance? Mary Baker Eddy provided much guidance on marriage in her chapter on that topic in Science and Health: "There should be the most tender solicitude for each other’s happiness, and mutual attention and approbation should wait on all the years of married life" (Science and Health, p.59). How can spiritualized thought result in "tender solicitude" and make it a permanent part of the marriage relationship?
In this live chat, Bob Clark, a Christian Science practitioner from Clearwater, Florida, will respond to your questions about marriage and how to find happiness and peace in your relationship with your spouse.
